Sungsil University ‘to return to glory’, ‘Black Shark’ coach Park Sung-bae and the ‘college soccer surge’

Sungsil University, coached by “Black Shark” Park Sung-bae, is making waves in college soccer.

Soongsil University will face off against favorite Jeonju National University at the 18th Taebaek Sports Park Stadium in Taebaek, Gangwon-do, on April 12 in the first and second year college football tournament. In this tournament, Soongsil University is taking on a new challenge and is performing beyond expectations.

The team recently appointed a new head coach. It was a surprise appointment ahead of the tournament. Coach Park Sung-bae, a Sungsil University alumnus who is known as a studying leader, is the main character.

Park, who was known as the “Black Shark” during his playing days, graduated from Soongsil University and was recognized as a striker at Jeonbuk Hyundai. He also played for FC Seoul, Busan, and Suwon Samsung before gaining experience in the Australian League.

After retiring from the game, Park made a name for himself as a coach. Although he didn’t play in the tournament, he assisted Chung at the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup, and he also served as an assistant coach at Suwon Samsung and Ansan. He has also served as an instructor for the Korea Football Association’s coach education program.

Soongsil University was once considered one of the strongest teams in the university. However, the team has been on a bit of a downward spiral and is looking to take on a new challenge with the appointment of Park Sung-bae.

With Park at the helm, the team enjoyed a thrilling 1-0 victory over defending champion Sun Moon University in their first match of the tournament. Led by Jo Joon-hyun’s goal in the 37th minute of the first half, the team won a hard-fought match and exceeded expectations.온라인바카라

In addition, Chosun University and Gyeonggi Seo continued their performance with a 3-2 upset victory.

A fierce match is expected against the favorite, Jeonju University, on the 12th. However, coach Park Sung-bae is instilling a new style of soccer in his young players.

“We are thoroughly analyzing the teams that are called the favorites. I haven’t analyzed them for a long time, but I see special advantages. I haven’t spent a lot of time with our players, but I’m trying to bring out the best in each of them. They have a good understanding of tactics, which is why they are performing so well. The coaches’ efforts are also a big help. We will do our best to help Sungsil University regain its former form.”
