Seoul coach Ahn Ik-soo on ‘last-minute goal’: “I have nothing to say, I’m sorry”

FC Seoul head coach Ahn Ik-soo sat in the press conference with a dejected look on his face after conceding a last-minute equalizer to the Pohang Steelers.

“I don’t have anything to say,” Ahn said after the team drew 1-1 at home against Pohang in the 18th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Nov. 11. I’m sorry,” he said briefly.

Seoul took the lead in the 37th minute through Hwang Eui-jo’s curling right-footed kick. However, they suffered from Pohang’s offense in the second half and conceded an equalizer through Ha Chang-rae from a corner kick in stoppage time. They were fortunate not to lose, as their performance dropped sharply after the midway point of the second half.

Coach Ahn could not hide his disappointment. When asked about the entire line going down in the second half, he simply replied, “We’ll have to review it.”

“It’s something to celebrate,” he said of Hwang Ui-jo’s second straight game with a goal. However, I’m a little disappointed,” he said, emphasizing that he would “review and find the problem.”안전놀이터

Ahn, who was more reserved in his post-match comments than usual, did not hide his disappointment. After three consecutive games without a win (two draws and a loss), Seoul finished third in the standings with eight points (five wins and five draws), behind Pohang (31 points). A win over Pohang on the day would have allowed them to take over second place, but they failed to do so and will now head into the A-Match break.
