SD third base coach still ‘thinks of baseball’ after cancer surgery

Matt Williams, third base coach for the San Diego Padres, has recently undergone surgery for colon cancer.

ESPN, an American media outlet, reported on the 13th (hereafter local time), “With less than two weeks since Williams underwent colon cancer surgery, he visited the team for a home game.” On this day, the first game of the three-game series between San Diego and Milwaukee Brewers was held at Petco Park in California.안전놀이터

Currently, Williams cannot play fungo or coach third base for at least four weeks. But he was still full of baseball thoughts. In an interview before the game that day, he said, “I woke up (after anesthesia) and asked what time batting practice was. He informed his brother that he had to go to the baseball field so he could play fungo for Jake Cronenworth. He wanted to come back quickly,” he said, expressing his will to return.

Regarding the results of the surgery, “It ended really well. It feels good to be able to come back and do what I can help,” he said. But so far I’m satisfied. We will move to the next step at the appropriate time.”

Williams was previously diagnosed with cancer during spring training and had colon cancer surgery on the 31st of last month. At the time, it was known that cancer cells were found in a blood test, causing fans to worry.
