Lotte fails to capitalize on ‘glasses ace’ Ho-two, faded Park Se-woong 4G consecutive QS+

Lotte Giants “Glasses Ace” Park Se-woong suffered a loss despite four consecutive quality starts.

Park Se-woong started the seventh game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the KT Wiz at Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan on Saturday, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in six innings.

It was a clean start. In the top of the first inning, he struck out the leadoff batter, Kim Min-hyuk, to start the game. He walked Ahn Chi-young to load the bases, but struck out Kang Baek-ho and Park Byung-ho, KT’s vaunted left-field duo, to end the inning.

The only error of the day came in the top of the second inning. After giving up a walk to leadoff hitter Jang Jang-woo and a single to Hwang Jae-gyun to put runners on first and second, he gave up a single to Lee Ho-yeon. With no outs and runners on 1-3, Park hit a fly ball to right field, but the runner from third crossed home plate to make the score 0-2.

However, Park quickly settled down. He did his job well, holding the KT bats scoreless until the sixth inning. He mixed his fastball, which reached 150 kilometers per hour, with a variety of other pitches, including sliders, curves, and forkballs.

It was his fourth straight Quality Start+ before SSG on May 19 (6 innings, 1 run), NC on May 25 (7 innings, no runs), and LG on May 31 (6 innings, 1 run).

However, the Lotte bats were unable to get past KT ace Ko Young-pyo. The offense received only one run support before Park Se-woong was replaced in the top of the seventh inning with a defensive start.

Lotte had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with runners on first and second, but a wild pitch by Go Young-pyo when Jeon Jun-woo stepped to the plate only resulted in a single and a walk to Jun-woo and Jack Rex.안전놀이터

Park eventually took his second loss of the season despite a strong outing, ending his three-game winning streak in starts. Lotte also started the week on a disappointing note, falling to KT 1-4 and dropping their second straight.
