Gwangju Lee Jung-hyo “I give the players autonomy, so they just play easy… They don’t seem to grow”

Gwangju FC coach Lee Jeong-hyo blamed himself for the unfortunate appearance of the team.

Gwangju drew 1-1 in the 14th round of the Hana One Q K League 1 2023 against Incheon United held at the Incheon Soccer Stadium on the 20th.

Both teams were unable to win as Ahn Young-gyu and Kwon Jin-jin, the two center backs, scored a goal each. Gwangju took 7th place (4 wins, 3 draws, 7 losses, 15 points), and Incheon ranked 10th (3 wins, 5 draws, 6 losses, 14 points).

Coach Lee Jeong-hyo said at a press conference after the game, “I have nothing to say even if I lose today’s game. I was lucky enough to draw. I think I just worked hard in the stadium.”

Regarding the fact that he only worked hard, Lee replied, “I told him to be consistent until the end, but it didn’t work out. Still, I played hard.”

When asked what kind of problem he sees as the offensive team’s sluggishness that has continued recently, he said, “It’s my problem. The players work hard on the pitch. I think I should give them a better way.”

Regarding the fact that he talks more about himself than the players this season, he said, “It’s like my problem not to score goals, and it’s like my problem to concede. The players are working hard. It doesn’t get better at pointing out the repeated problems while doing it. In the end, it’s my fault as the director.”

Gwangju is also ahead of the FA Cup Round of 16 against Seoul E-Land during the week. Regarding this game, “I have already prepared for this game since I came to Incheon. I always have to play consistently and the same way, but the first half and the second half are clearly different. It doesn’t seem like a physical problem. The first half and the second half are equally difficult. It’s very unfortunate that growth seems to have stopped.” 안전놀이터

He added, “I’m trying to train hard, but it’s unfortunate that it doesn’t go well. As a coach, there are parts that don’t work, so it’s a pity.”

When asked how much he tried to play autonomous soccer, which he said before the game, coach Lee said, “If players give autonomy, they try to do only what is comfortable. I think it’s homework for me how to approach it.”
