‘Glass body’ Severino refused to participate in the WBC against the Yankees

Reporter Kim Joo-hee = Luis Severeno (29, New York Yankees) was unable to participate in the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) because he did not receive permission from the club.

Hector Gomez of the Dominican Republic’Z101 Digital’ announced through his social network service (SNS) that “Severino will not be able to play for the 2023 WBC Dominican national team because Yankees general manager Brian Cashman did not allow it.”

Severino, who made his big league debut in 2015, has been active with the Yankees all along. In his career, he recorded an average ERA of 3.39 with 50 wins, 29 losses and 2 holds, and last year, he recorded an average ERA of 3.18 with 7 wins and 3 losses.

The reason the Yankees refused to call Severino to the national team was because of his injury history. Each club may object to a player with a medical problem from participating in the WBC. 먹튀검증

Severino was often sick enough to be given the modifier ‘glass body’. He suffered various injuries including elbow ligament splicing surgery, back, shoulder, and thigh.

If it doesn’t hurt, I’ll do my part. In the 2018 season, when he last played full-time, he went 19-8 with a 3.39 earned run average.

The Yankees are still watching Severino with anxious eyes.

The WBC is held prior to the start of the regular season. Pitchers participating in the WBC must build their bodies faster than in previous years. After that, it may be a burden to play the regular season of long-term races.

The Yankees seem to have refused to call out Severino, considering that he could be overloaded with WBC participation.

Meanwhile, earlier, Luis Castillo (Seattle Mariners) also failed to join the Dominican Republic national team against the club’s opposition.
