“Alford Breakup” KT is about to reunite with former KBO MVP Rojas for the first time in four years

After removing Anthony Alford from the disabled list, KT Wiz is expected to re-sign former KBO League MVP Mel Rojas Jr.

“According to sources, Mel Rojas Jr. is close to signing a contract with KT Wiz,” Mike Rodriguez, a Latin American player news reporter, said on his social media account on June 6 (KST).

Alford played for KT for two years, batting .223 with 29 home runs, 120 RBI, 131 runs scored, and 22 stolen bases in 213 games (774 at-bats). But instead of Alford, KT looked for a better foreign hitter and settled on Rojas.레모나토토 도메인

Rojas spent four years with the KT Wiz, starting in 2017, playing in 511 games, batting .1971/.633 with 132 home runs, 409 RBI, 350 runs scored, and 27 stolen bases. In 2020, he batted .344 (9-for-192) with 47 home runs, 135 RBIs and 116 runs scored, and was named the regular season MVP.

After evaluating the KBO, Rojas moved to the Hanshin Tigers of Nippon Professional Baseball in 2021. In 60 games in his first year in Japan, Rojas batted just 2-for-1 with 41 doubles, eight home runs, 21 RBIs and 18 runs scored. In 89 games last year, he batted just 2-for-41 with nine doubles, nine home runs, 27 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

Rojas, who plays for Tigres del Licei in the Dominican Republic’s Winter League, has been hitting well, earning weekly MVP honors twice.
