LG completes sweep against Doosan in ‘Jamsil Rivalry’ game
LG Electronics cruised to a 10-0 victory over Doosan on Tuesday at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. With the win, LG swept the three-game weekend series. It followed a 9-2 win on the 28th and a 7-6 win in 10 extra innings on the 29th.
It was LG’s first sweep of Doosan in a year and 20 days after the team swept the series on July 8-10 last year. This season, LG led the head-to-head series against Doosan 8-2.
Choi Won-tae, who was acquired in a trade on Sept. 29, took the mound for LG and pitched six innings of two-hit ball with five strikeouts and no walks to earn the win. It was a perfect debut for LG. LG has won its last four in a row to move into first place with 53 wins, two ties and 33 losses. Doosan, on the other hand, has lost five straight after an 11-game winning streak. They are now 44-1 and 41-41 after their trusted starter, Brandon, gave up eight runs on seven hits in four innings.

LG started Choi Won-tae, who was acquired in a trade with Kiwoom on the 29th. Plutko, who was originally scheduled to start, struggled with a cold, so Choi’s debut was moved up. Park Dong-won and Oh Ji-hwan were dropped from the starting lineup to protect their health.

Kim Hyun-soo grounded out to second. With two outs, Austin singled to center field. Moon Bo-Kyung hit a long ball over the left field fence for a one-base hit, both runners scored. The two RBI doubles gave LG the lead.
LG got on the board in the second inning. Leadoff hitter Heo Do-hwan was hit by a pitch. A sacrifice bunt put runners on first and second, and Shin Min-jae grounded out to shortstop. With two outs, Hong Chang-ki hit a single to right field to make it 3-0.
LG took the lead in the third inning with a big inning. After one out, Kim Hyun-soo singled to right and Austin singled to left to put runners on first and second. Moon Bo-kyung reached on a fielder’s choice. Son Ho-young hit an RBI single to right to make it 4-0. Heo Do-hwan was hit near the knee by a pitch from Brandon and went down. Park Hae-min singled to left, bringing two runners home. Yang Yang-ji, the catcher, threw to third to catch a runner running from first to third, but the throw went over the third baseman’s head and into the outfield. Won-Tae Choi pitches a perfect game with two outs in the fifth inning
Won-Tae Choi pitched a no-hitter from the first to the fourth inning. In the first inning, he struck out the side on seven pitches. He got Jung Soo-bin to ground out to third base on the second pitch. Heo Kyung-min’s grounder hit the pitcher’s glove and was caught by the shortstop, who threw to first for the out. Kim Jae-hwan ended the inning with a defensive shift to third base between first and second.
In the second inning, Yang reached on a grounder to second base. Shin Min-jae made a super catch, running backward to snag a hard-hit ball that fell between the second baseman and center fielder. Kang Seung-ho retired the side with a three-pitch strikeout.
In the third inning, Yang singled to shortstop and Park Kye-beom struck out swinging on a changeup. Kim struck out Kim Tae-geun on a full count with a 145-kilometer pitch. The fourth inning ended with nine pitches. Jung Soo-bin flied out to right field on three pitches. Heo grounded out to the third baseman on the third pitch. Kim Jae-hwan grounded out to third base on three pitches to end the inning.
In the fifth inning, Yang grounded out to shortstop. Yang struck out looking. Kang Seung-ho singled to left to break up the no-hitter. He struck out Yang Chan-yeol to end the inning.

LG starters all hit, score double-digit runs
LG opened the scoring in the fifth inning when leadoff hitter Son Ho-young drew a walk against reliever Lee Young-ha. Heo Do-hwan followed with a double down the left field line to put runners on second and third with no outs. One out later, Shin Min-jae’s grounder to the second baseman allowed the runner from third to score, making it 9-0.
In the sixth inning, LG’s leadoff hitter Moon Sung-joo led off with a single that fell between shortstop, center field, and left field, and came home a batter later on Austin’s double to left-center field. The score was 10-0.
The LG mound held the Doosan bats scoreless after Choi Won-tae in the seventh, Baek Seung-hyun in the eighth, Oh Seok-joo in the ninth, and Lee Woo-chan in the ninth.
