Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager is close.
“Enze Postecoglou could be confirmed as Tottenham’s new manager as early as next week, according to the UK’s The Sun. Celtic have already begun their search for a replacement,” the Sun reported.
“Tottenham are on the verge of appointing Postecoglou. He has been quiet as they prepare for the Scottish Cup final but wants to test himself in the English Premier League (EPL). Celtic will not stand in the way of Postecoglou. Tottenham will be looking to finally end a three-month process that began with the sacking of Antonio Conte in March.”
An eventful 2022-23 English Premier League (EPL) season has come to a close. Once again, Tottenham missed out on the trophy hunt. A wingless fall at the end of the season proved fatal, leading to the dismissal of head coach Antonio Conte and acting manager Christian Stellini in quick succession.
After falling out of the top four, Tottenham finished the league in eighth place. They missed out on qualifying for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) and Europa League (UEL), not to mention the Europa Conference League (UECL). All of their recent big investments have come to naught.
The search for a new manager, undertaken by chairman Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy, has also stalled. After Conte’s dismissal, a number of names were floated, including Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Brendan Rodgers, and Arne Slott.안전놀이터
That’s when Postecoglou came into the picture. After last season’s ‘double’ (league and Scottish League Cup), he’s looking at a ‘dominant treble’ (league, Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup) this season. However, there are concerns about his lack of big league experience compared to other star managers.
The Sun says: “Postecoglou will work again with new director of football Scott Mearns, who takes up the job next month. The pair also worked together at City’s football group. Postecoglou’s arrival at Spurs is expected to be imminent.” If Postecoglou does join Spurs, he will move from being under Oh Hyun-gyu to being under Son Heung-min.
