Seo Bomin back in Tancheon, “I almost went to the home locker room…Seongnam is a team with many good memories”

“I almost went to the home locker room because I was so used to it.”

Seoul Eland recorded a 2-1 come-from-behind victory in the 17th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 at Tancheon Sports Complex at 8 p.m. on Nov. 11. Seoul Eland moved into seventh place after beating Seongnam.안전놀이터

Despite conceding an early goal to Park Tae-joon, Seoul Eland didn’t back down and went on the offensive. They were awarded a penalty kick just before the end of the first half, which Bruno converted to make it 1-1 at the break. At the start of the second half, substitute Han Yong-soo scored the game-winning goal. Seongnam’s onslaught continued, but they managed to hold on for a 2-1 victory.

There was a player who visited Tancheon Sports Complex after a long time. It was Seo Bomin. After playing for Gangwon FC and Pohang Steelers, Seo joined Seongnam in 2018. He has been with the club for four seasons, three of them as captain. He wore the captain’s armband in 2018, his first season with the club, and continued as captain for two more seasons. He contributed to Seongnam’s promotion and retention in the K League 1 and became a fan favorite for his leadership and fan service.

He parted ways with Seongnam last year to join Seoul Eland. Seo has been rotating in and out of the starting lineup, adding experience to a young Seoul Land squad. On this day, he started on the left side of the defense. He was substituted at the start of the second half for tactical reasons, not due to poor performance or injury. In the Mix Zone, Seo talked about the win and how he felt about facing Seongnam as an opponent.

  • How did you feel about the win?

It wasn’t an easy game. I’m proud that we were able to bring home a victory, even if the content was a bit disappointing.

  • Seoul Eland has been on a roll since May. What’s the driving force?

The coach is very supportive and runs the team from the players’ side. I think he has bought the players’ hearts a lot, so they play for him more. I think that’s what drives us to do well. There are tactical things, but he also plays a lot with the players and tries to approach them first. There are no walls, so I think the atmosphere is very good in that part, and that’s why we have the strength to win.

  • You’re a veteran on the team.

Han Yong-soo and Kim Won-sik set the tone, and I melt into the younger players. I think the team is doing well because we are sharing roles.

  • It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Seongnam.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a stadium as a player, but I don’t go to the away side very often, so when I came today, I almost went to the home locker room. It was great to be back in a familiar place after a long time. Seongnam is a team I have a lot of good memories with. When I went to greet the Seongnam fans after the game, I was in a good mood. Seongnam fans are not the kind of people who criticize me when I go there because they lost a game, so I was happy to go there.

  • Now it’s the second half. What are your goals?

The goal is to get to the playoffs and hopefully get promoted. As long as we implement what the coach has given us tactically on the pitch, I don’t think we will lose easily. I think we can go up no matter what.
