Real ‘triggers buyback’ to bring back youth product who exploded onto the scene

Fran Garcia is returning to Real Madrid after a two-year absence.

Real officially announced on their website that they have triggered the buy-back clause on Garcia. The former Real youth product was loaned to Rayo Vallecano in 2020, before being sold outright a year later. Instead, Real inserted the buy-back clause as a device that could be invoked at any time. Real bought Garcia back for a fee of €5 million to Rayo Vallecano, as stipulated in the contract. His contract runs until June 2027.

The triggering of the buy-back clause was expected. Fabrizio Romano, a reporter for European soccer’s transfer market, and multiple Spanish media outlets reported that Real would call Garcia back. The left fullback position is one of Real’s weakest. Per Mendy has been the mainstay, but he has been plagued by inconsistent form and frequent injuries. The club has tried to fill the void by playing Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba at left fullback.

Garcia has exploded onto the scene in La Liga this season, with his sharp kicking ability allowing him to deliver incisive crosses and take set pieces. His explosive pace allows him to get involved in the attack, but he’s also done a great job in defense. He was named Bayekano Player of the Year. Starting every game in La Liga (38), Garcia also scored two goals and provided three assists.안전놀이터

The Spanish outfit recently named the best players in La Liga by position, including Garcia. Lee Kang-in (Mallorca), Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid), and Marc-André ter Stegen (Barcelona) also made the list. Real have triggered the buy-back clause on Garcia, who has impressed enough in a single season to stand alongside the best of them. It was a relatively cheap way to strengthen the left fullback position.
