Kiwoom veteran pitcher Chung Chan-heon (22) is getting a break.
Chung was removed from the first-team roster ahead of the team’s game against Lotte at Gocheok Sky Dome on April 18.
“He felt discomfort in his back,” the club said, “and is scheduled to undergo a medical examination next Tuesday (22nd).”
Chung, who was eligible for free agency last season, didn’t sign with Kiwoom until late March. He joined the team’s starting rotation and went 2-8 with a 4.75 ERA in 14 games. He has lost four straight starts, starting against Doosan on March 9 and ending against KIA on March 16. In his last three games, he failed to complete five innings and was pulled early.메이저놀이터
In his place, outfielder Joo Sung-won was called up to the first team. Joo is batting .147 in 15 games for the first team this year.
The absence of Chung leaves a hole in the starting lineup. Recently, Kiwoom’s starting lineup has seen the likes of Ahn Woo-jin and Ariel Hurtado drop out of the rotation due to fatigue.
“I’m a little worried because we have a hole in the starting lineup against Doosan on the 22nd,” said manager Hong Won-ki, “but I’m positive that it will be a great opportunity for the young players in the second team.”
