The Boston Celtics defeated the New York Knicks 114-98 in the 2023-2024 NBA regular season on Thursday night at TD Garden in Boston. With the win, Boston improved to 8-2.
Ace Jayson Tatum was on fire. Tatum showed off his versatility by playing nearly 40 minutes on the night, finishing with 35 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.레모나토토
The cherry on top was the fourth quarter.
Boston entered the fourth quarter with an eight-point lead after a dominant third quarter, but they started to falter early in the fourth. Back-to-back three-pointers from Jaylen Brunson and Josh Hart cut the Celtics’ lead to three.
That’s when Tatum stepped up, hitting a step-back three-pointer to break the New York momentum. After getting the free throw, Tatum completed the four-point play. His fingertips never cooled. Tatum hit back-to-back 3-pointers at the end of the fourth quarter to seal the win for Boston.
In his postgame interview, Tatum said, “I thought I played well enough. But we had some bad free throw shooting. Great scorers need one big shot to get momentum and change the rhythm of the game. If you see one go in, you can get back in the game.”
Tatum proved his worth in the fourth quarter alone, finishing with 17 points, including four 3-pointers, to go along with two rebounds and two assists. However, he did voice a reflection. He missed several 3-pointers on the night. By the third quarter, Tatum had shot seven 3-pointers and made just one.
“I missed a lot of wide open threes,” Tatum said. I missed a lot of easy baskets. It was a tough day overall. But this is the kind of thing that keeps me going. I’m going to take these things.”
With the win, Boston extended its winning streak to three games. Next up for the Celtics is the first-place Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference. It will be interesting to see if Tatum can stay focused and continue his hot streak against Philadelphia.
