Bayern Munich has issued an ultimatum to sign Harry Kane, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is taking a leisurely vacation in the United States.
Germany’s Sky Sports reported on Friday (Nov. 5) that “Munich has offered Tottenham 100 million euros ($144 million) for Kane. Munich has asked Tottenham to respond by Friday. If Tottenham refuse once more, they plan to walk away from the Kane deal.”
Munich’s interest was solely in signing Kane. As the transfer window opened, they continued to negotiate with Tottenham for Kane. Coach Thomas Tuchel even flew to London to try and convince the player to stay. But Tottenham remained stubborn. Tottenham rejected both of Munich’s offers. Munich’s first offer was €70 million, which Spurs rejected.
Munich didn’t back down easily. They made a second offer of 80 million euros ($117 million). Tottenham’s position was the same this time. Tottenham wanted a much higher price than what Munich had offered. Naturally, they weren’t willing to sell Kane, who is considered the best striker in the world today. Tottenham set a price tag of £100 million ($165.8 million) for Kane’s transfer.
Munich have been actively pursuing Kane throughout the transfer window, but Tottenham have been unwilling to let him go. Spurs have even pushed back the date of the talks. They were scheduled to meet in London on April 28, but reportedly rescheduled the meeting at Levy’s request. The talks went ahead, but no progress was made.
According to British media outlet The Independent, Munich offered Tottenham £85 million for the player, but it was rejected. Levy wants £100 million, while Munich wants to lower the price to £90 million. When that didn’t happen, there was talk of Kane staying.
