“I want to make him a Golden Glove second baseman…” Shin Min-jae, who has made the leap to the starting infield.

“My dream is to make (Shin) a Golden Glove second baseman.”

One of LG Twins manager Yoon Kyung-yeop’s hopes this season was for Shin Min-jae to win a Golden Glove.

Shin, who joined Doosan as a developmental player in 2015, donned LG’s pinstripes through the 2018 second round draft. Since then, he has primarily served as a pinch-hitter, batting .226 with 12 RBIs and 22 stolen bases in 195 games with the first team through last year.

This year, Shin is showing off a much more advanced game. He started the year as a pinch-hitter, but when a gap opened up at second base due to the struggles of Seo Geon-chang, Jeong Ju-hyun, and other established options, he seized the opportunity.

In a recent meeting, LG manager Yoon Kyung-yeop praised Shin Min-jae for not only his offense but also his defense, which has improved recently. He said, “(Shin) Min-jae is improving the more he plays. His defense has also improved a lot,” he said, adding, “He really struggled with coach Kim Il-kyung. She is adapting quickly,” and gave a thumbs up.

“Of course, I still need to improve on the basics, and I’m still working on them through training,” Yeom said, adding, “I’m looking forward to next year more than this year. I think he will continue to grow into a better player.”

As of 15 days ago, Shin is batting .333 (147-for-49) with 17 RBIs, 27 doubles and a .391 on-base percentage in 82 games. While he hasn’t gotten much regular at-bats due to his time at the top of the order, he’s been hitting well enough to record multi-hit games in his last two games (5-for-5 with a double and three RBIs against the Jamsil Kiwoom Heroes on the 12th and 6-for-3 with a double and two RBIs against the Jamsil Kiwoom on the 13th).

He also leads the league with 27 stolen bases. Manager Yoon Kyung-yeop hopes to see Shin win the Golden Glove for second baseman.메이저놀이터

“My dream is to make Shin Min-jae a Golden Glove second baseman. If he wins the stolen base championship and goes 3-for-3, he will get it.” Yoon said.

Of course, if Shin Min-jae is good enough to win a Golden Glove, LG’s power will be stronger. “If Shin Min-jae (continues to grow), the team will have tremendous resources,” says Yeom. “In the end, for the team to be strong, the center line four must be good. Catcher, shortstop, second baseman, and center fielder must have either power or speed.”
