Gangwon FC broke up with foreign player Kevin

Gangwon FC has finished accompanying foreign player Kevin (Sweden).

On the 15th, Kangwon said on the official SNS, “I have finished accompanying Kevin,” and “I will not forget the time we spent together and support the future.” According to Gangwon officials, the two sides terminated the contract under mutual agreement. As a result, Kevin, who joined Gangwon in March of last year, will leave Gangwon after 1 year and 2 months.

Kevin, a Swedish under-20 (U-20) representative, was expected to fill the vacancy of Lim Chae-min (currently Jeju), who had left for China at the time of recruitment, with a height of 190 cm. Kevin played 21 games (one goal) last season, playing as a centre-back and central midfielder. He had the advantage of being a multi-player, but he performed less than expected, avoiding active physical fights even with good physicality.

Nevertheless, Kangwon decided to accompany Kevin this season as well. However, Kevin suffered a long-term injury before the match against Daegu FC in the third round and only played in one game this season. Gangwon, which is currently in 11th place 안전놀이터 with 2 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses, with 10 points, could not keep Kevin any longer, as the timing of his return was still unclear, and eventually terminated the contract.

As Kevin leaves, attention is focused on whether Gangwon will reorganize foreign players. Currently, Gangwon has three foreign players: Dino (Sweden), Gallego (Brazil), and Alibayev (Uzbekistan), but none of them are showing satisfactory performance. While it is known that they are searching for new foreign players, attention is paid to whether Gangwon, which is in crisis, will be able to succeed in rebounding by reinforcing foreign players.

Meanwhile, K League 1 this season can have a total of 6 foreign players (5 regardless of nationality, 1 Asian player) according to regulations.
