The Atlanta Hawks won 130-122 against the Boston Celtics in Game 3 of the 1st round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs held at the Atlanta State Farm Arena on the 22nd (hereinafter Korean time).

Atlanta, who lost both games on the road, returned home and recorded its first win in the series. With this victory, the series record was 1 win and 2 losses. 

Atlanta fought back with seven players scoring 10 or more points. Ace Trae Young, who played an active part in the match, led the team to victory with 32 points and 9 assists. Dezonte Murray also did his part with 25 points and 6 rebounds.

Both teams battled hard from the first quarter. As Atlanta struck out with scores from Capella and Young, Boston faced off with outer catchers from Brogdon and Smart. Atlanta’s bench units, including Sadiq Bay, struggled, but allowed eight 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished the first quarter with a score of 33-37.

Entering the second quarter, Atlanta turned the tide of the game with Bay, Jaylen Johnson, and Young’s outer catchers. Boston counterattacked with good shots from the players, but fell behind with cracks in the defense. Atlanta, which once ran away by 14 points with Murray and Bogdanovic playing, finished the first half with 74-67 after slowing down at the end of the quarter.

As the third quarter began, Boston took advantage of the gap in Atlanta’s shaken by a turnover to turn the game around. Then Atlanta brought the flow back with John Collins putting out the urgent fire and Young putting on jumpers one after another. Atlanta, which was not pushed even in the bench section, ended the third quarter with a score of 100-93.

Boston, which reorganized the front line in the fourth quarter, put pressure on Atlanta with Smart’s consecutive scores. Atlanta took the lead with Young leading the offense. Young’s one-man show widened the score again to 113-106. Boston also did not back down easily, responding with Horford’s 3-point shot and Tatum’s breakthrough dunk. 

Atlanta, whose scoring pace was slowing down, started as a firefighter with Young hitting a stepback 3-point shot that was close to a feat. Even Murray came out to support the outskirts, and Seung-gi headed for Atlanta. When Boston followed Smart’s 3-point shot, Young blocked the opponent’s pursuit with a floater score. 

Boston’s defeat deepened as it failed one after another in decisive attacks. Atlanta put a wedge in the game by succeeding in Young’s free throw obtained through a foul operation.
