“Confidence is always there,” says Hanyang University’s Park Sung-jae

“Confidence is always there. I trusted my teammates.”

Hanyang University’s Park Sung-jae (183 cm, G) played full-time in the 2023 KUSF College Basketball U-League home game against Chung-Ang University at Hanyang University’s Olympic Gymnasium on Dec. 12 and finished with 26 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Led by Park’s performance, Hanyang won 74-71 and secured a spot in the playoffs.

After the game, Park said, “It was a very important game. I think I played a lot physically. It was tough, but it’s good to win,” he said after the game.

After hitting back-to-back three-pointers in the first quarter to set the tone, Park finished with a total of five three-pointers, showing off his hot shooting. The nutritional value was also good when the team allowed the lead to slip away. He took the lead in protecting Hanyang’s lead by making timely three-pointers.

Park said, “I always have confidence. I trusted my teammates, and I think that’s why I got good results. The same goes for our defense.”안전놀이터

Hanyang University faced a crisis in the fourth quarter when they allowed Chung-Ang University to make a big push. What did they talk about as captains? Park Sung-jae said, “Overall, I think we missed a lot of free throws and allowed them to catch up. I said, ‘Let’s focus on the little things like rebounding instead of getting caught up in the play,'” he said, reflecting on the situation.

Hanyang University is one game away from clinching a spot in the playoffs. Park Sung-jae said, “I don’t think it’s a done deal. We will work harder with the mindset that the playoffs are at stake,” he said.
