Captain Tiger at the right place at the right time…”The center fielder hit the game-winning run”

The Kia Tigers swept the Doosan Bears for the second straight day to book a best-of-seven series. The head coach praised his players for their contributions to the victory.

Kia Tigers earned a 6-3 victory against Doosan in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League on Tuesday at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. The win improved KIA’s record to 25-27 on the season and marked their second straight victory. It also secured a three-game weekend sweep.

Starting pitcher Lee Yi-ri earned his sixth win of the season (3-0) with six innings of four-hit ball, three walks and four strikeouts, while the bullpen combined for three scoreless innings.

After the game, KIA head coach Kim Jong-kook said, “Lee Yi-ri was in trouble in the third inning, but he did a good job as a starter by pitching a quality start. Today, like yesterday, the pitching staff of Kim Yoo-shin, Park Joon-pyo, and Jang Hyun-sik pitched scoreless innings to secure the victory for the team.”

Leading the offense was veteran Choi Hyung-woo. He went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to help his team extend its winning streak. Ryu Ji-hyuk, Byun Woo-hyuk, and Shin Beom-soo also contributed with multi-hit performances.

Coach Kim said, “At the plate, Ryu Ji-hyuk continued to show good hitting and base running as a leadoff hitter today after yesterday’s game. After the team lost the lead in the bottom of the third inning, Byun Woo-hyuk immediately hit the tying run and showed active offense from the bottom of the order, and Choi Hyung-woo was a center fielder who delivered the winning run and a wedge hit.”안전놀이터
