Ace among aces, Park doesn’t lose focus when backed by firepower

“I was able to manage my pitches well early in the game, which allowed me to pitch well”.

The Lotte Giants’ “glasses ace” Park Se-woong shined. Park earned his seventh win of the season on Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits (one home run) in six innings with one walk and four strikeouts against Samsung at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu.

Of Park’s 94 total pitches on the day, 58 were strikes. He topped out at 148 km/h and effectively utilized his arsenal of curveballs, sliders, cut fastballs, and forkballs. Lotte blew the whistle on a three-game winning streak with a 7-4 victory over Samsung.

“I was able to manage my pitches well at the beginning of the game, so I was able to pitch well, and although my pitch count increased as the game went on, I was still able to do my job and get off the mound by the sixth inning,” Park said after the game.

Ahn led the team’s offense with a two-run homer to left-center field in the third and a three-run shot to left field in the fourth, his first back-to-back home runs in 387 days since resigning from Samsung Electronics on Aug. 25 last year.

Park said, “Chi-hong’s (Ahn) home run gave us a big boost. I didn’t want to be distracted by the score, so I tried my best to match the other batters. Of course, we gave up some runs, but we decided it was better to get a result quickly than to leave runners on base.”

Catcher Lee Jung-geun, Park’s soul battery, injured his right hamstring while running in the fourth inning and was replaced by pinch-hitter Son Sung-bin. A medical examination revealed a second-degree tear in his right hamstring and a three-week recovery time. Park Se-woong said, “I had to leave the game because (Jung) Bo-geun was injured. I hope he recovers and comes back as soon as possible,” Park said.메이저놀이터

“I have one more outing before I go (to the Hangzhou Asian Games), and it’s my duty as a member of the Lotte Giants to do my best for my club before I join the national team,” he said.

“In an international tournament like the Asian Games, every game is important. I think the most important thing is that all the players play as one. I don’t think there’s a player who doesn’t go out there and do their best. We will definitely come back with a gold medal,” he concluded.
