Thirteen violations per game, only a minute shorter… but there’s a pitch clock effect?

Even though Pitchclock is a pilot operation, there are many violations.

The game time has also been shortened by only one minute compared to last year. However, KBO is said to have the effect of pitch clock. If it is officially implemented next year, it is expected to see a considerable amount of time reduction.메이저놀이터

Pitchclock was introduced to shorten the playing time by reducing unnecessary behavior of pitchers and batters on the mound and at-bat. It was implemented first in the Major League, which had great effect, and is also being implemented in the Taiwan League.

A pitcher must pitch within 18 seconds when there is no runner, and within 23 seconds when there is a runner. A catcher must complete preparation for catching a port with nine seconds left. If a batter violates this, he or she will be declared a ball. A batter must complete preparation for batting at the batter’s box with eight seconds left, and if a batter violates this, he or she will be declared a strike.

In this year’s first division, it was initially scheduled to test-run until the first half and implement it in earnest from the second half, but due to opposition from field directors, the official introduction was postponed to next year. This year, there are many cases of violations in important situations as only warnings are given if the pitch clock is violated.

As of June 25, pitch clock violations in the first division occurred a total of 5,090 times in 385 games. The number of violations per game is 13.2 times. Pitcher violations are 2,809, batter violations are 2,220, and catcher violations are 61.

The pitch clock does not seem to have a significant impact on the game time, perhaps because it was piloted. Based on nine innings, it was only shortened by one minute from three hours and 11 minutes last year to three hours and 10 minutes.

However, KBO judges that a shortened game by one minute is meaningful when comparing batting indicators for last year and this season. This means that the shorter game time in the era of riding and pitching this season is due to Peach Clock.

Compared to last year, the number of hits per game increased by 1.48 from 17.75 to 19.23, and the number of home runs increased by 0.68 from 1.23 to 1.91. The number of walks also increased by 0.28 from 7.34 to 7.62. The number of stolen bases also increased by 9.38 from 1.37 to 1.75.

Thanks to good batting performance, the number of pitchers and the number of at-bats increased. The number of pitchers per game increased by 0.15 from 4.73 to 4.88, and the number of at-bats per game increased by 0.71 from 39.16 to 39.87. Time is bound to lengthen.

Nevertheless, KBO’s analysis is that it is thanks to the pitch clock that it has only increased by one minute.

It is said that many pitchers have prepared since the off-season as it was officially implemented from the second half of the year, and they are seeing the effect of shortening the game time because they are throwing it into their routine regardless of the time of official introduction.

If it is officially introduced next year and all pitchers and hitters keep it, it is expected to reduce the game time.

If we look at the actual cases of the Futures League, which will be officially implemented from the second half of the year, and come up with ways to operate or supplementary measures, it is expected that Peach Clock will be able to make a soft landing next season.
