“Shooting is my strength. I’ll do my best”. 4th grade KIM DO YEON’s fighting spirit

Konkuk University defeated Sungkyunkwan University 80-72 in the 2024 KUSF University Basketball U-League at Sungkyunkwan University’s Suseonggwan Hall on the 11th.

With the victory, Konkuk University maintained its sole third place position.

Fourth-grade shooter Kim Do-yeon contributed to the victory by scoring 11 points, including 3 3-pointers.

Kim Do-yeon said, “It was an away match and I thought Sungkyunkwan match was a really important match in the upper-middle-ranking battle. It was difficult, but I’m really happy to win. The winning factor was that the players did not miss their concentration while running until the fourth quarter in such a hot environment.”스포츠토토

There was a reason why Kim Do-yeon referred to it as “a hot environment.” This is because the Suseonggwan Hall of Sungkyunkwan University, where the game was held on this day, is a place without air conditioning.

In the afternoon, the temperature dropped due to rain, but players had to play without the help of air conditioners in summer weather with daytime temperatures of up to 35 degrees Celsius.

Konkuk University players are said to have been aware of the stadium environment in advance and trained in advance by conducting training without air conditioning for a week.

Kim Do-yeon, who sweated a lot throughout the interview, said, “Actually, it’s really hard. It wasn’t easy to exercise and play at high temperatures. I’m very fortunate that I overcame the difficulties well. I’m glad that I finished the interview without any problems.”

When she was a third grader, she failed to draft early last year, and is now spending her senior year in school. She is spending her meaningful year as a graduate by showing off her outstanding shooting skills this season.

Kim Do-yeon said, “I’ve realized a lot since I fell out of the draft last year. I wanted to reveal my strengths more, but my teammates tried to give me a lot of chances, so the shots are going well this season. Coach, the coach tells me to pay attention to the defensive part first, but I think the part I tried to match it led to a good appearance.”

When asked what he wants to appeal in the upcoming draft, he said, “My strength is my shooting ability. That’s why I want to appeal my shooting skills. And I think I’m making progress in blocking shooter-type players in defense as well. I’m trying to appeal that part in the draft.”

He is also listening to the advice of Park Sang-woo, a one-year senior who joined Hyundai Mobis through the draft last year.

“I talked to Sang-woo on the phone several times during practice matches with him,” Kim said. “Sang-woo also told me to pay attention to defense first. He also told me that I need to increase my shooting success rate to appeal to professional players. I got more motivated when I heard that.”

Kim Do-yeon said, “I’m a little worried because many players are in the draft early on. (Laughs) But in the end, my job is to prepare for my draft, so I don’t care about that as much as I can and I want to show my strengths more in the remaining college leagues.”
