The Korea Professional Baseball Players Association announced on the 9th that it will start a project to support low-year and low-year players.스포츠토토
The applicants are all those who joined the club as nurturing players without a down payment in the previous year and maintain their status as players on September 10 of that year.
In order to remember the late Choi Dong-won’s love for his junior, the government plans to pay the subsidy every year on Sept. 14, the anniversary of his death.
This year, the first year of implementation, it was decided to deliver subsidies to a total of 18 players who met the above criteria among the players who have joined the team over the past three years.
According to the association, about 25-30% of all rookie players join as nurturing players every year without a down payment, and only 40% of them continue their careers a year later.
The association said, “We plan to raise support funds through the association’s budget and gradually expand the scale through corporate sponsorship.”
Kim Hyun-soo (LG Twins), chairman of the association, also joined the Doosan Bears as a nurturing player in 2006 and started his professional career. After competing to become a starting pitcher, he established himself as a batter representing the Korean baseball league.
“Joining a professional league does not mean that all economic conditions will suddenly improve. It will not be easy to buy a glove or a bat,” Kim said. “Senior players should help them maintain their athletic careers.”
The association said the need for related support was raised at the board meeting in June and was unanimously approved by the official board of directors.
Meanwhile, the association plans to hold the 13th presidential election in November as Kim Hyun-soo’s term expires in December.
