“I’m sure you’re nervous, too”…The position of the “existing foreigners” is also unclear due to the good pitching of the “short-term replacement foreigners” from the Japanese independent league, and the head coach’s concerns are growing

The time of destiny is approaching. SSG Landers is agonizing over the position of a foreign pitcher. Roenis Elias, who successfully renewed his contract with SSG ahead of this season, was out of power due to a left internal oblique muscle injury after the match against the KIA Tigers in Gwangju on May 12.

The SSG was moving fast. Its goal was to recruit foreign pitchers to fill Elias’ vacancy by utilizing the “short-term substitute foreign player recruitment” system, which was newly established this season. The SSG’s choice was Keisho Shirakawa, who played for the Tokushima Indigo Sox in the Japanese independent league.고소득알바

Shirakawa became the winning pitcher with five scoreless innings against the Kiwoom Heroes in Gocheok on the 1st, his debut game. In the match against the Lotte Giants in Busan on the 7th, his second appearance, he collapsed with eight runs (seven earned runs) in one ⅓, but he pitched well with one run in five innings against KIA in Incheon on the 13th and 10 strikeouts and two runs in six ⅓ against NC Dinos in Incheon on the 21st.

SSG coach Lee Sung-yong was also worried about Shirakawa’s performance. If he continues to show good performance, there is no reason not to continue to accompany him this season.

However, Elias is a proven player who joined Eni Romero as a substitute foreign pitcher last season and performed well. He took the mound in the Futures League game against the Goyang Heroes at SSG Futures Field in Ganghwa, Incheon on the 20th and scored one run (non-independent) in three innings. He will then take the mound once again in the match against Ganghwa Sangmu on the 26th. Lee Soo-yong and Kim Jae-hyun plan to visit Ganghwa in person to see his pitch.

“If Shirakawa shows good performance in the next game, (Elias) will be nervous, too. So I’m going to see (the second team game) myself. I’m going to throw about four innings, and if I do well there, I’m going to pitch in the last game against NC in Changwon,” Lee Sung-yong told reporters ahead of the match on Sunday.

Obviously, Shirakawa has displayed good performance except for one game so far. However, he did not play professionally in Japan. He was an independent league player. Due to his small number of games, he had a long break after starting. However, in Korea, he has to play once a week as well as twice a week. There is also a possibility that Major League teams will recruit good pitchers at the end of the season.

“I have a headache. I am agonizing over various issues. Anyway, if we continue to use Shirakawa, we will use all the foreign ordinal replacement cards that we can use,” Lee said. “You never know. There is a high chance that the Major League will produce a good player from August to September. If I sign a contract because it is okay around early August, I will be able to play in the postseason. I have to think about that, too.”

He continued, “Shirakawa throws well, but he has no full-time experience. We also have to think about whether we can continue the rotation of the starting five players,” he said. “I have a lot of worries as I see him throwing against NC. We were very weak against NC, but Shirakawa showed a good performance. That’s a plus factor for us. Elias will also go to Ganghwa and check it closely.”

SSG has to decide the fate of the two in early July. Attention is focusing on which of the two pitchers will continue to accompany SSG.
