Park Joon-woo took the mound in the top of the ninth inning when the Lotte Giants was defeated 4-11 in the game against the Sajik SSG Landers on Saturday. He quickly grabbed two out-counts by overpowering veterans Kim Sung-hyun (ground ball to the third base) and Choo Shin-soo (floating ball to the right fielder), and blocked Oh Tae-gon, who had hit a home run in the game, with a ground ball to the second baseman to end the inning. The final result was no hit, no hit, no run, and no run in one inning. In his first appearance in the first team, he did not tremble and threw his own ball vigorously, resulting in three outings.
Lotte pitcher Park Joon-woo took the mound as relief pitcher in the 15th game between the SSG and the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League held at Sajik Stadium on Sunday. He pitched three shutout innings without allowing a single run, and ended his first appearance in the first division since his debut. Lotte Giants
Ahead of the match against LG Twins in Jamsil on Thursday, Lotte manager Kim Tae-hyung said, “I haven’t been arrested yet, but I have a good one. If it was my first time in the game, I would have been very nervous, but I threw my ball well. I think I’ll get better in the future.”
“There were a lot more spectators than in the Futures League, and the stadium size and cheering sound were all loud,” Park said. “I was very nervous. I think I was less nervous because I played in the Futures League All-Star Game and the strongest baseball (TV baseball entertainment program), but it was different from that. I was nervous thinking about having my career. I cared a lot.”

I was nervous, but the result was perfect. It was enough to prove the possibility. Park Jun-woo said, “I think you should always have no regrets when you climb the mound. It’s better to get a hit or a home run even if you’re replaced. If I just throw the ball and come down, I think I’ll regret it a lot. It doesn’t go my way, but I pitched strikes well and I was able to win.”
Park Jun-woo is a promising player that Lotte has high expectations for. After graduating from Yushin High School, he joined Lotte in the 33rd place overall in the fourth round of the “2024 KBO League Rookie Draft.” Since his debut year, he has been enjoying numerous opportunities in 15 games (14 starts) with four wins, five losses and an earned run average of 5.05 innings in 15 ⅔ in the Futures League.
At the Futures League All-Star Game held at SSG Landers Field in Incheon in July, like Karina, a member of girl group Aespa, she wore a wig and dressed up and took the mound to win the Best Performance Award, drawing attention. Karina’s pitching teacher became the background of the performance. Because of this, Park Jun-woo is now nicknamed “Sajik Karina” before his name, but he is an expectation that one day an ace-like title may follow.
Park Joon-woo said, “I haven’t thought much about it yet. Actually, it doesn’t seem real. It’s still amazing to do good things in good places and eat good things. If you do it step by step, you can get another modifier. I’m still grateful for Sajik Karina.”

For Park Jun-woo, a first-year professional player, this is the time to learn by gaining experience. He does not want overwhelming performance right away. “I definitely felt it in the breaking ball. I think he has a different ability to cope with (the breaking ball) from the hitters of the Futures League,” Park said. “Even though I have an advantage, the breaking ball hit me. I think I still have a weak side. If there is a clear ball (decision ball), it will be better for me to win.”
Finally, Park Joon-woo said, “I threw one game now. I want to keep trying not to do that because I can’t go down after my first appearance. I don’t have much time left, but I want to learn a lot, experience, and feel a lot while watching big games with my seniors even for a short time.”
