The Korea University Baseball Federation (Chairman Choi Joon-sang) announced on the 10th that Choi Min-gyu (2nd grade), an infielder at Busan National University of Science and Technology, who is participating in the 58th Presidential National University Baseball Competition held at Miryang Sports Park Baseball Stadium in Sunshine, achieved a cycling hit milestone in a game against Gimcheon University in the group qualifying round on the 7th.
Choi Min-gyu, the first batter and shortstop, completed his 27th cycling hit in college baseball history and first cycling hit this season, starting with a superior double in the first inning, a one-run homer in the second inning, an infield hit in the fourth inning, and a superior triple in the sixth inning.
Lee Seung-jong, head coach of Busan National University of Science and Technology, praised Choi Min-gyu, saying, “I am always training with a sincere attitude, and as of the end of three games in this presidential competition, I am maintaining a batting average of .500 with 6 hits in 12 at-bats and playing a role of driving the victory as a table setter.”
Meanwhile, the Korea University Baseball Federation and the Miryang Baseball Softball Association, which co-organizes the tournament, have decided to present a special award to Choi Min-gyu, who achieved the first milestone since the opening of the Sunshine Miryang Sports Park Baseball Stadium in November last year.
