LG Twins foreign pitcher Detrick Ens is slowly finding stability.
As of Tuesday, N.C. has posted nine wins, three losses and an earned run average of 4.15 in 110 ⅔ innings in 20 games. He has been listed at the top of various indicators including multiple wins (2nd), winning percentage (4th), strikeout (5th), and innings (7th).먹튀검증
In fact, he met his team’s expectations in just two games in March. He started the game against the Hanwha Eagles in Jamsil on March 23 and the Gocheok Kiwoom Heroes on March 29, and became the winning pitcher by allowing two runs and no runs in six innings, respectively.
However, the trend did not last long. N.S. showed sluggish performance in five games, 25 innings, one win and 7.20 ERA for the month of April, and he left a regret in May with two wins and two losses and 4.97 ERA in five ⅓ and 25 innings. Among the five games, he was substituted twice in less than five innings.
It was in June that N.C.E.N.S. set a turning point. He displayed three wins and an earned run average of 3.10 in five games, 29 innings, expressing regret. Notably, he played six innings in four out of five games, easing burdens on the bullpen.
N.S. is continuing the trend through July. He pitched in three games in July, recording one win and one loss in 19 ⅓ innings with an ERA of 2.33. At the game against the SSG Landers in Jamsil on Wednesday last week, he garnered his ninth win in this season by allowing four hits, three strikeouts and one run in six innings.
“When asked about N.S. before the 11th game of this season’s game against SSG was canceled due to rain, (N.S.) has been throwing fork balls. I’m not throwing changeups,” LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop said on Wednesday. “I’m emphasizing to look up and down rather than the left and right sides of the strike zone along with raising my arm.”
LG did not produce as much performance as expected at the beginning of the season. One of the reasons was the poor performance of the starting pitchers. The burden and responsibility were so great, but N.S. showed a better performance as time passed.
Above all, it is encouraging that the player’s own efforts turn out to be successful. ENCE was not frustrated despite the continued sluggishness, and he tried to find a breakthrough by talking with the head coach. Coach Yeom Kyung-yeop is looking positively at ENCE’s attitude of trying to change even a little.
“N.S. is a good listener. He is a good listener compared to Korean players. (N.S.) is just like rookie players. I feel like I’m playing baseball in the position of a rookie,” Yeom said. “That’s how I get better.”
Meanwhile, Lim Chan-kyu, who was scheduled to start on the 18th, has been postponed by a day due to the cancellation of rain, and LG will set up its starting lineup with Lim Chan-kyu, Casey Kelly and Son Joo-young in the three consecutive home games against the Doosan Bears on the 19th and 21st. If there are no variables, N.C.E. will normally play the rotation and start against the Sajik Lotte Giants on the 24th.
