Tongyeong City announced on the 12th that it will hold the “2024 Tongyeong and Dodram Cup Professional Volleyball Competition” at Tongyeong Gymnasium for 16 days from the 21st to October 6th.

As it is the first professional volleyball tournament in 16 years in Gyeongnam, it is expected to contribute greatly to revitalizing the local economy, enhancing the image of Tongyeong as a sports city, and expanding the base of volleyball as well as providing cultural benefits to citizens.
It is also expected to have a positive effect on the foundation of the Tongyeong middle school volleyball team.
The opening ceremony will be held at Tongyeong Gymnasium on the first day of the event at 12:20 p.m. on the 21st. The men’s team will include seven Korean men’s professional volleyball teams (OK Savings Bank, Hyundai Capital, KB Insurance, Korean Air, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Woori Card, and Korea Electric Power Corporation) and the Armed Forces and Sports Ministry.
A total of 16 teams will participate in the women’s team, including seven domestic women’s professional volleyball teams (GS Caltex, Korea Expressway Corporation, Hyundai E&C, Pepper Savings Bank, IBK Industrial Bank, Jeong Kwan-jang, Heungkuk Life Insurance) and nine overseas invited teams (Aranmare).
The men’s team will start with a game between OK Savings Bank and Hyundai Capital on the 21st, while the women’s team will start with a game between GS Caltex and Korea Expressway Corporation on the 29th.
The first game on weekdays starts at 3:30 p.m., the second game starts at 7 p.m., the first game on weekends and holidays starts at 1:30 p.m., and the second game starts at 4 p.m. However, on the second day of the game, the game will be operated according to the schedule of the game on weekdays.
Online reservations for viewing can be made sequentially through the KOVO (Korea Volleyball Federation) website from 11 a.m. on the 13th, and on-site issuance is also possible on the same day.
For Tongyeong citizens and groups of more than 10 adults/students, tickets can be purchased at a 20% discount for weekday games excluding holidays, and tickets can be issued after checking the evidence documents on the spot when making online reservations.
Meanwhile, all games will be broadcast live on KBS, KBSN, SBS sports channels and NAVER TV.
For the convenience of spectators and citizens, Tongyeong City plans to operate shuttle buses that circulate between Tongyeong Bus Terminal and Tongyeong Gymnasium every 30 minutes, and plans to operate booths that sell drinks and snacks.
